Katrin Winkler (*1983) is an artist and filmmaker based in Berlin. She works in the fields of expanded cinema, critical research, photography and video. How history is in-/visible and entangled with the contemporary moment is a reocurring theme in her artistic practice. She holds a BFA in Photography from the University of Applied Sciences, Munich. She was a student assistant at the Katutura Community Art Center, Windhoek, Namibia and the City Varsity, Cape Town, South Africa. She studied Media Arts/ Mass Media research and Art in Public Media Space with Günther Selichar and finsihed the Master Class Programme with Clemens von Wedemeyer at the Academy of Fine Arts, Leipzig. And she studied Photography&Media&Integrated Media (MFA) amongst others with Allan Sekula, Ashley Hunt, Michelle Dizon and Billy Woodberry in the MFA Programme at the California Institute of the Arts, Los Angeles. This year she is a participant of BPA- Berlin Program for Artists. Her works have been shown internationally.

Katrin Winkler (*1983) ist Künstlerin und Filmemacherin. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Ihre künstlerische Arbeit bewegt sich zwischen Expanded Cinema, intensiven Recherchen, Video und Fotografie. Inwieweit Geschichte (un-)sichtbar und mit der Gegenwart verwoben ist, ist eine wiederkehrende Thematik in ihrer künstlerischen Praxis. Sie absolvierte Recherche- und Assistenzaufenthalte sowohl am Katutura Community Art Center, Windhuk, Namibia als auch an der City Varsity, Kapstadt, Südafrika. Sie studierte Fotografie an der Hochschule München (BFA) und Medienkunst/ Mass Media Research und Kunst im medialen öffentlichen Raum bei Günther Selichar und war Meisterschülerin in der Klasse Expanded Cinema bei Clemens von Wedemeyer an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, Leipzig. Am California Institute of the Arts, Los Angeles studierte sie Fotografie und Medien (MFA) unter anderem bei Allan Sekula, Ashley Hunt, Michelle Dizon, Billy Woodberry und war Teil des CalArts-Institute of Integrated Media. Diese Jahr ist sie Teilnehmerin des BPA- Berlin Program for Artists. Ihre Arbeiten wurden international ausgestellt.
